Displaying Information (nonactionable)
there's linear and non-linear display of information
linear is like a book
non-linear is like a newpaper
people think in both ways, but information is often pigeon holed into one.
it is powerful to have both sections, headings, chapters, parts, books as well as the semantic connections between them all
how to display information that is readable, beautiful, and useful?
- it can't only be 1 dimensional
- 1 dimensional hierarchy
- with non-linear loose connections
- allow for serialized processes like how to perform x in y with steps 1-7
- it must use different styles of display to allow for quick scanning of the important information
- links to other information
- can quote blurbs from other sources inline
- easily searchable to find your exact thought (semantic?)
- don't redo work
- make work resumable
- information is categorized into and filtered through what people actually need
- ~ideally you can do a natural language query and the system will find what you need exactly first try
- ... other things
everything relates to everything else, but there are degrees of connection and relevance filters
write in your own style. slow down..., and write as you go
